The Gospel of Mark doesn’t begin as Matthew and Luke’s Gospels with the story of Jesus’ birth. It doesn’t start with the creation as John’s Gospel does. It opens with a message from the wilderness: prepare the way for the Lord. During the Christmas season, we are reminded that we have a message and a work to do–to prepare the world for the coming of Christ.
